Jimmy Au's for Men 5'8" and Under of Beverly Hills is having their first ever trunk and road show in Chicago and is back to New York City by popular demand

There is something very satisfying about helping men discover how much better they can look with the right fit and proportion. They see potential, look more confident, and stand taller.

Due to the overwhelming success of last year’s east coast debut, Jimmy Au’s For Men 5’8” and Under (http://www.JimmyAus.com) is returning to New York City for their third-annual trunk and road show from May 2nd to May 4th and continuing onto the mid west with their first-ever stop in Chicago from May 5th – May 7th. The New York trunk show will be held at the exclusive Waldorf Towers, 100 East 50th Street New York, NY. Chicago’s show will be held at the legendary Drake Hotel, 140 East Walton Place Chicago, IL 60611. Both trunk shows will feature the nation’s only designer clothing collection specifically developed for shorter men. Jimmy Au’s for Men 5’8 and Under is also now the last fully dedicated short men’s clothing store in the entire U.S.; continuing to dominate the niche market for over fifty years.

With a flagship store in Los Angeles, and numerous requests to come to New York and Chicago, the demand for Jimmy Au’s for Men 5’8” and Under proves that the three largest metropolitan cities in the U.S. aren’t all that big after all. New York and Chicago are two of the clothing, retail and fashion capitals of the world and yet there are no stores in either for the shorter man. For years, shorter men in these cities have been consistently relegated to wearing ill-fitting clothing and modified fashions designed for the larger man, making them look not only ridiculous, but actually shorter than they really are. Others are forced to shop in the boys department even when they have the spending power to afford a custom suit and/or designer label. It was for this reason that Mr. Au seized the opportunity to travel to two of the largest yet underserviced cities in the country. Jimmy Au recognized this dilemma and became committed to providing shorter men around the country with the same fashion opportunities and designer style choices as their taller counterparts.

Mr. Au’s client base in New York City and Chicago is also the largest outside of Southern California. While many customers do fly out to Los Angeles to shop in their Beverly Hills boutique, some cannot and instead, rely on the store’s special “goodie” package system that entails a range of requests along with appropriate fashion suggestions to complement their choices. The trunk and road show will allow customers to view a larger portion of the collection in person and also to try on various items in adjacent sizes to get the best fit. For potential new made-to-measure buyers, it’s a rare opportunity to have their measurements personally taken by Mr. Au himself.

Both trunk and road shows will feature clothing designed by Jimmy Au himself, along with fashion essentials procured by Mr. Au that adhere his strict quality standard of fit, fabrication and design. Guests at the Chicago and New York shows will get the first look at Jimmy Au’s spring ready-to-wear collection and made-to-measure collection in both tailored clothing and sportswear. Both shows will feature suits, sport coats, leather jackets, casual jackets, dress pants, dress shirts, casual pants, premium denim jeans, sport shirts, polo shirts and shorts. The collection itself demonstrates an exceptional depth and breadth of inventory along with one of the most customized and unique shopping experiences in the world. The Jimmy Au collection is the largest of its kind.

Alan Au, the owner’s son and client relations manager says, “I am excited to bring our collection back to New York City and to Chicago for the first time. I know our clients appreciate the effort. For potential customers, this gives them an opportunity to try on the collection without having to travel out to Beverly Hills. Finding clothes that fit can be a frustrating thing, so having the chance to try things on is very meaningful. We hope to continue to build our client base in these two great cities with the thought of one day opening new stores here.”

When Mr. Au’s not traveling the country, he’s busy catering to some of the entertainment industry’s leading stars back at home. His expertise and fashion quality are no secret to Hollywood’s leading stylists and wardrobe departments who are clamoring for him to outfit their stars for major film and television projects including No Ordinary Family, Grey’s Anatomy, Modern Family, House M.D., Brothers and Sisters, The Middle, Private Practice, Hawaii 5-0, The Big Bang Theory, Medium, The Mentalist, Rules of Engagement, The Late Late Show, The Event, Law and Order: Los Angeles, Chuck, The Office, Parenthood, Last Comic Standing, Community, Parks and Recreation, The Little Couple, Ten Years Younger, The Closer, Hung, True Blood, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Pair of Kings among many others. Hollywood actors, particularly those 5’8” and under, know all too well the pain and difficulty of finding smaller sizes and for that reason choose Jimmy Au over other name brands.

The small, independently owned Beverly Hills-based boutique has also been a consistent leader in the menswear industry receiving numerous awards and accolades for their ingenuity, convincing and helping famous designer manufacturers like Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren and DKNY to develop their clothing collections to include more sizes for short men. Au is also popular among other menswear stores for taking on hard to fit shorter men because his store boasts the largest size selection for short men in the country. Suits and sport coat sizes start at 34 extra short, short rise casual and dress pants start at a 28 waist, dress shirt sizes start at a 14” neck in a 30” sleeve and sportswear sizes start at an extra short/extra small. If that weren’t enough, the customer service and shopping experience at Jimmy Au’s feels unusually comfortable and inviting as the entire store is scaled down, including the mannequins. It’s a truly unique and one-of-a kind shopping experience designed exclusively for a man 5’8 or shorter.

“There is something very satisfying about helping men discover how much better they can look with the right fit and proportion. They see potential, look more confident, and stand taller. The right fit is more comfortable, gives you more mobility and allows you to focus on what you are doing rather than what you are wearing,” said Jimmy Au, owner and designer who began catering to short men in 1975. “The right proportion is flattering, makes you taller and can make you look trimmer; or broader as the case may be. Most men don’t know how much better they can look. I’m hoping to show them.”

Alan Au further added, “Nothing beats trying something on and knowing how it fits and feels. You can’t do that over the internet. This collection is designed by a shorter man who understands shorter men. Our collection is different. It’s not a repurposed or redesigned regular size. It is meant for a shorter man; particularly someone who can appreciate a better fit. The PERCEPTION of looking shorter has its disadvantages, so having the right fit and proportion will only help you look taller. Who doesn’t want that?”
