The goal of the Name our Robot contest is to help inform our community of this remarkable new equipment while providing a challenging and exciting contest for our youth.
The da Vinci Surgical System is taking the world of surgery into an entirely new atmosphere. This remarkable system allows surgeons to perform complex maneuvers without even putting their hands inside their patient! There are numerous patient benefits in using this technology, including: shorter hospital stay, less pain and faster recovery time, less blood loss and fewer transfusions, less risk of infection and less scarring.
Students are invited to try the machine out for themselves (with their schools), and are also asked to participate in the contest. Each student is asked to come up with the ideal name for the robot, and a paragraph explaining why they chose the name.
The contest is open to any K-12 student (public, private, or home school), and entries may be from individuals or groups. The prize will consist of five movie tickets, and a certificate with the winner’s name on it!
We look forward to learning the name our futuristic robot from possibly one of our future surgeons!
