Direct Air Announces Service to Lakeland/Orlando, FL and San Juan, Puerto Rico

Direct Air, an air service with corporate headquarters located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, officially announced today it has added two additional destinations, Lakeland/Orlando, FL and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

To the south, San Juan, the popular U.S. territory, is not only an exciting travel destination itself but also the cruise ship gateway to the southern Caribbean. To the north, Plattsburgh International Airport is often referred to as “Montreal’s U.S. Airport”. It is a preferred choice over the expensive and congested Montreal airports due to the convenience and one hour drive proximity, as well as not having international fees.

Beginning November 19, 2011, Direct Air will offer two flights per week departing and returning on Wednesday and Saturday to Lakeland/Orlando and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

“We are extremely pleased Direct Air will be enhancing its service from Plattsburgh International Airport by providing non-stop service to Lakeland, Florida and continued service to Puerto Rico” said James R. Langley, Jr., Chairman of the Clinton County Legislature. “Current Direct Air flights from Plattsburgh have proven highly successful, and I am confident that these new destinations will be received by the traveling public just as enthusiastically. We will continue to work with Direct Air to address their needs as they step forward to increase service from our airport.”

Direct Air President, Ed Warneck, said, “The partners of Direct Air are excited to expand service to our newest Florida destination. We all agree that with the support of the community, together we will be able to establish Lakeland Linder as the preferred gateway to the Central Florida region.”

"This is another step forward for Plattsburgh International Airport," stated Garry Douglas, President of the North Country Chamber of Commerce, "adding not only another Florida destination but onward service to Puerto Rico, which our Montreal friends have identified as one of the new destinations they would like to reach from here. The fact that Direct Air and our other airlines continue to add service here is testament to the power of the market we have developed and the future opportunities we have, especially once we expand the terminal. Onward and upward for Montreal's U.S. airport and air service development in the North Country!"
