I've always believed that if the world can see itself as a whole, seeing others in the world as connected to us, brothers and sisters, together on this precious planet we share ... then we'll find humane solutions to our collective challenges.

"Today is World Healing Day ... [it] seeks to unite healing intentions from a multitude of spiritual and medical practices." - The Huffington Post.com

World Healing Day was born out of 13 years of global organizing by Bill & Angela Wong-Douglas, who were the guests of the Brazilian government for last year's event as the event they'd organized was made part of Brazil's National Anniversary Celebrations. And also organized by tai chi and qigong practitioners, teachers, and scientific researchers worldwide, who created an event known as World Tai Chi & Qigong Day, http://www.WorldTaiChiDay.org, whose motto is "One World ... One Breath."

Their vision of wrapping the world in a wave of healing intent year after year, captured the imagination of people worldwide. Other mind-body, spiritual, and humanitarian groups worldwide began to ask, "How can we be a part of this?" And World Healing Day was born.

"Working together, World Healing Day seeks to accomplish collectively the true power of a global human consciousness" - Pakistan-Asia News.com

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Practitioners of various mind-body, spiritual, and creative arts will hold mass public teach-ins and exhibitions, whereby attendees come together across racial, ethnic, religious, and geo-political borders as a human family to harmonize and focus their consciousness on personal and the collective healing of our straining world.

WHY?
Scientific research indicates that the human mind is a very powerful force. Its not rocket-science to understand the fact that human consciousness is the birthplace of the state of our planet, socially, environmentally, and so on. Actions begin deep in our consciousness and then manifest through our behavior to form the world we see. Take a bridge or a skyscraper. You look at it, and its solid and physical. But it began as the airy wonderings of an architect or engineer or artist's mind, and then through a series of actions became that structure you see physically. We, humanity, are at this moment creating the world of the future. Let's envision one we can all love living in, and then one day we'll look up at the shiny towering structure we've created together.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE VISION:
As the family of World Healing Day events began to organically coalesce over the years, organizers became aware of scientific research that has begun to prove that human consciousness may have more force than just the practical one discussed above. Videos on the below research can be viewed at WorldHealingDay.org.

1) THE GLOBAL CONSCIOUSNESS PROJECT:
Research coming out of Princeton University gave birth to the Global Consciousness Project that placed computers all around the world called "random event generators," or REGs. These computers flipped a digital coin thousands of times per minute, and as you'd expect, overall the odds were 50/50. BUT, they discovered that during times of great human tragedy like 9/11 and Princess Diana's death ... their REGs spiked in one direction or the other. Researchers claimed that the mathematical odds of this happening by chance are one in a million or more.

Conclusion: Human consciousness actually physically impacts our world.

2) MEDITATION RESEARCH FINDS HARMONIZED MINDS INFLUENCE OTHERS
A large scale study in collaboration with the Washington DC Police Department found that when a small percentage of an institution or city's population harmonized their consciousness through meditation ... it had a positive impact on the entire city, In the case of DC meditators were brought into DC incrementally in the summer high-crime season with a goal of reducing violent crimes or HRAs (Homicides, Rapes, and Assaults) by 20%. The police chief laughed, stating that they'd only achieve that if they had a blizzard in August.

But, indeed the HRA crimed rates did come down just as the meditation group had claimed they would. Not only that, but they found that as the meditators were brought into the city in increments, there was a direct correlation between the rise in meditators and the lowering of crime rates.

Conclusion: Human consciousness rivulets outward and affects others around us.

FIND VIDEO ON THE TWO ABOVE RESEARCH PROJECTS, as well as a fascinating video about a research project showing that primates who were prayed for, actually healed faster than those who were not prayed for - further suggesting powers of human consciousness.

"What if human consciousness were focused en masse for a 24 hour-period, not on fear and desperation, but on an intention for personal and global healing?" [World Healing Day's] founders asked. Details may be found at WorldHealingDay.org. - Al-Ahram Weekly, Cairo, Egypt
