From BayScribe’s newest office in Charlotte, NC, BayScribe announced availability of BayScribe Mobile 2.3 for iPhone (version 4) today with a couple of key enhancements to improve the Clinical Documentation workflow, security and ultimately, EHR/EMR adoption.

Healthcare facilities are continuously working to attract and retain physicians and providing functional mobile applications on the physicians preferred device is a means of doing so. The latest release of BayScribe Mobile for the iPhone OS has two key improvements that facilitate this. The first is support for the iPad with a larger more useable interface specifically designed to take advantage of the iPad screen size. The second is an application security PIN, complete with timer, to allow the application to be locked separately from the device to protect any patient data that may be present on the device.

“We worked with physicians at one of our Maryland Hospitals to really refine this version and ensure it works exactly as they want it to,” stated Ron Neuenberger, President of BayScribe. The facility, a 300+ bed hospital, recently provided the physicians with iPhones, and they were very eager to begin using BayScribe Mobile in lieu of the telephone. BayScribe Mobile provides a Patient List customized to each physician, so the physician need not dictate the spelling of the patient’s name, the medical record number, the date of birth, the report type, etc saving the physician time and improving the quality and accuracy of the data.

This dictation method speeds turnaround time of transcription as the Medical Transcriptionist (MT) does not have to search an ADT list looking for Patient information to match to the dictation. “In some of our sites, the inaccuracy or absence of the patient ADT information accounts for a full 90% of QA (Quality Assurance). BayScribe Mobile saves time and money for everyone involved in the production of the transcribed report – the physician, the MT and the hospital staff who normally has to correct the missing information,” said Steve Bonney, VP of Business Development at BayScribe.
