“Business Oscars” for the Asian American business community to be presented on May 3rd, 2011 in New York

It is inspiring to see so many successful Asian-owned companies continuing to grow at
such a rapid rate, despite the challenging U.S. economy.

USPAACC-NE announced today that for the second year in a row, they will be hosting the “Business Oscar” for the Asian American business community – the Top Ten Asian American Business Awards, the most prestigious Pan Asian American Business Award program in the Northeast region. The event will be hosted at the New York Times Conference Center on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. ET.

Sponsored by Wells Fargo, Bloomberg, HSBC, Citibank, Merck, A&Z Pharmaceutical, AAARI, Collabera, UTC Associates and US China Partners, Inc., this year’s Top Ten Asian Business Awards recognizes minority Asian-owned companies with the fastest revenue growth over the past three years. It also honors Asian entrepreneurs with outstanding leadership, vision and accomplishments who have built a sustainable business and also supported the local business community. The winners of this program will participate in the national “Fast 50” award program at USPAACC Annual National event CelebrAsian from Monday May 23 to Wednesday May 25, 2011 at Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, California.

“It is inspiring to see so many successful Asian-owned companies continuing to grow at such a rapid rate, despite the challenging U.S. economy. Asian minority companies not only have created jobs, but also many of our winners reinvented some of the traditional industries with new business models. I am delighted to see more than three of our winners have annual revenues worth of $200 million! These distinguished entrepreneurs are charting new courses and deserve to be recognized”, said Savio S. Chan, president of USPAACC Northeast Region.

To qualify for the ranking, companies must be owned by one or more Asian Americans (51% ownership), and based on percentage revenue growth over three years. Selection was determined through direct applications and nominations. Finalists were independently verified by Holtz Rubenstein and Reminick LLP, a regional accounting firm based in New York City.

This year’s Top Ten Asian American Business Awards winners consist of business owners originated from China, Korea, India, Bangladesh and the Philippines.

The 2011 Trailblazer Corporate Leadership Award will be presented to Ms. Stella Oh, marketing director of Saks Fifth Avenue and the Corporate Ambassador Award will be presented to Mr. Don Perez, vice president of JP Morgan Chase.
