'For kids to know where they're headed but remember where they've been' - Speaking of CampInteractive
New York City, NY (PRWEB) April 29, 2011
Carbon NYC will host 500 guests at its second annual Charity Soirée on May 7th at Center 548 (548 West 22nd Street, NYC). The event will be an immersion into urban art, music, and dance in support of a New York based non-profit organization, CampInteractive. The fundraiser will serve a dual purpose; to raise funds for CampInteractive and to celebrate the charity’s 10 year anniversary. As part of this celebration, long-time supporters of CampInteractive and founders of Foursquare, Dennis Crowley and Naveen Selvadurai, will be presenting an award to one of the young individuals participating in CampInteractive’s programs at the event. Dennis and Naveen have shown their support for CampInteractive in a big way through their involvement in The Gap's national advertising campaign entitled 'Gap Want - Anthem'.
Dennis Crowley and Naveen Selvadurai founded Foursquare in 2009 and quickly gained a user base of over one million by 2010. Foursquare has proved important to big-name brands eager to leverage location-based advertising including HBO, Bravo, and Zagat, to name a few. Foursquare is a location-based social networking website based on software for mobile devices. This service is available to users with GPS-enabled mobile devices, such as smartphones. Users "check-in" at venues using a mobile website, text messaging or a device-specific application by running the application and selecting from a list of venues that the application locates nearby.
Carbon’s Charity Soirée will feature a live musical performance by award winning, New York artist, Jose Conde, an open bar sponsored by MEDEA Vodka, Tanteo Tequila, Stella Artois, and Chivas Regal, musical sets by DJ LILI LAMAR and DJ Brendan Fallis, both rising stars on the NY nightlife scene, supported by live dance performances, and hors d’oeuvres by Betel Restaurant and Sushi Nomado, all held at Center 548, one of New York’s premiere art loft spaces. This event is open to the public and individuals can purchase tickets for $200 or VIP sections for $5,000 each at http://www.carboncharitygala.charityhappenings.org.
Carbon has welcomed a number of partners for this event including FORTUNE Magazine, MEDEA Vodka, Tanteo® Tequila, Chivas Regal, Stella Artois, Glacier Water, Mint Management, Urban Rebounding, Allstate, Betel Restaurant, George Kollitides, Kuldeep Malkani, Jay Goldman, Bill Connolly, Synergy Productions, Mercy, Jersey Street Furniture Rental, Virtu, CIGNA, Charity Lives, and Little Cupcake Bakeshop.
CampInteractive is a New York based, non-profit organization that empowers inner-city youth through the inspiration of the outdoors and the creative power of technology. They believe that when urban teenagers step back into nature and forward into technology they gain invaluable skills, heighten their academic standing, and begin to realize more of life’s possibilities. The goals of the organization are to provide NYC’s inner-city youth with technology training, giving participants a creative outlet. The organization provides environmental education to connect city kids to the natural world and the environmental issues facing their generation, as well as a safe space to learn, grow, and build personal goals for the future. In September of 2006, a year-round program began with the opening of the Center as a base. CI now actively engages youth throughout the year with academic tutoring, monthly outdoor trips, and technology workshops.
