"While prenatal exams and tests are very important, they alone do not meet the spectrum of diverse needs a woman has during pregnancy,” says peacefullypregnant.org founder Kristy Fox.

For some pregnant women, it's morning sickness. For others it's swollen feet and ankles. But for others, the worst symptoms of pregnancy might be social rejection and isolation, financial difficulty, or even triggered post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms.
"While prenatal exams and tests are very important, they alone do not meet the spectrum of diverse needs a woman has during pregnancy,” says peacefullypregnant.org founder Kristy Fox. “To offer support for the spiritual, emotional, and mental needs of expectant mothers worldwide, we are launching peacefullypregnant.org on Mother's Day," said Fox. She gave birth to her son, Jacob, last year.
As a domestic abuse survivor who experienced a traumatic miscarriage ten years ago, Fox has since rebuilt her life with her new husband, Curt, who was the first to hold Jacob as he was being born.
“I suffered a great deal with PTSD symptoms like nightmares early in my pregnancy, recalling the miscarriage experience. But I was determined to overcome it and promised Jacob before he was born that I would be my best for him when he arrived. That meant overcoming old fears and trauma and redefining my views on motherhood. And it meant feeling more peace and confidence about childbirth and my body. So I put together a strategy for my spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical health, and I stick to that plan even today. So now my goal is to share my strategies, research, resources, and spiritual insights with mothers looking to do the same.”
Fox will officially launch peacefullypregnant.org by leading a free Pregnancy Stress Relief webinar on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 8 at 12:00 p.m. ET. The 45-minute session will guide pregnant women of all faiths and perspectives through simple, yet effective, relaxation techniques, including breathing, positive visualization, and silent meditation. It will be followed by a question and answer session. The event is free to the first 1,000 registered participants.
Fox is an increasingly sought-after maternity life coach, speaker, and author of Peacefully Pregnant: Spirit and Sense for the Unexpectedly Expectant Mother, to be released in paperback and e-book formats this month. She has counseled, coached, and interviewed over 200 mothers, clients, and experts during her study of spiritual and psychological wellness in expectant and postpartum mothers. Her comprehensive book on natural childbirth, Push Smarter, Not Harder: Expect Better for Your Baby’s Birth is forthcoming.
