A thief was arrested breaking into KVA Supply Company at 12:53 a.m. on March 8th. Police were dispatched by the company’s “SafeSite” ™ security system, Safe Systems, after a motion viewer initiated a silent alarm to Safe Systems’ Central Station. Upon verifying the crime with security video, Safe Systems’ Central Station Operators alerted police.
According to John Wrzesinski, Operations Manager at Safe Systems, operators informed local police that a theft was in progress that had been verified by video. Police arrived on scene within ten minutes and they apprehended and arrested the perpetrator who is now going through the criminal justice process.
KVA Supply Company owns and operates a large outside warehouse where reels of copper and aluminum cable are often stored, presenting an attractive target to thieves who cut large pieces of it from to sell for scrap. Because the price for scrap wire has doubled and tripled over the past few years, this type of theft has become more and more common.
KVA’s foresight to have Safe Systems install a video security system, coupled with the prompt response by the police department (undoubtedly motivated by the fact that they had confirmed evidence that a crime was in progress), there was no loss. According to a representative at KVA, “We have no idea what the extent of our loss would have been if we had not been protected by [Safe Systems’] video security system.”
Safe Systems is the largest independently-owned, full-service UL-listed monitored security company in Colorado. Safe Systems designs, installs and monitors custom Commercial and Residential security systems exclusively for Colorado's Front Range.
