Denver, CO (PRWEB) May 03, 2011
Swisslog, a leading provider of automated materials transport and medication management solutions for hospitals, today announced that 79 of its customers have been named to Thomson Reuters’ 2011 list of the 100 Top Hospitals®.
Published annually since 1993, the Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals study uses objective research and independent public data to recognize the best U.S. hospitals. These healthcare facilities do not apply for inclusion on the Thomson Reuters list nor do they pay for this honor.
Thomson Reuters researchers evaluated nearly 3,000 U.S. hospitals. According to Thomson Reuters, its study is unique in that it evaluates hospitals on measures of overall organizational performance, including patient care, operational efficiency and financial stability. It compares hospitals only against similar facilities in terms of size and teaching status.
Based on the results of its study, Thomson Reuters concluded that if all hospitals performed at the same level as the 100 Top Hospitals:
1. Nearly 116,000 additional patients would survive each year;
2. More than 197,000 patient complications would be avoided annually;
3. Expense per adjusted discharge would drop by $462; and
4. The average patient stay would decrease by half a day.
“All of us at Swisslog are very proud to be partners with so many of the 100 Top Hospitals,” said Charlie Kegley, president of Swisslog Healthcare Solutions North America. “Our materials transport and medication management systems are designed to aid our customers in delivering quality healthcare faster, safer and with greater efficiency.
