Psychologists have identified the need for good social skills as a critical element in good mental health as well as academic achievement.
Getting along with others is a common problem among school age children, who have to learn how to handle teasing and bullying, following social rules, making new friends, and much more. The Berenstain Bears “Learn to Make Friends Kit” is designed to address these issues and concerns. It can be used in classrooms or community centers, for children ages six to ten. The kit is also intended to be used with children with Asperger's Syndrome who by definition have a hard time with their social awareness. It includes a card game, a board game, a “friendship ball” a bingo game, stickers, and certificates.
The board game that comes with the kit is called, “What Would a Friend Do?” and it challenges children to answer multiple choice questions or questions from their real life experiences. This board game is also sold separately.
Childswork/Childsplay has pioneered the use of counseling games to help children with different emotional problems, and they selected the beloved Berenstain Bears license as a way to address this common problem of childhood. The Berenstain Bears Store is the place to go for early childhood character education books and games featuring The Berenstain Bears. You'll find classic Berenstain Bears books, as well as brand new resources for teachers, counselors, and parents.
