After years of experience providing classroom training, I am excited to see this great alternative for companies to provide convenient, yet very effective training for their implementation and internal audit teams.

As food safety makes headlines, more and more companies in the food industry are receiving food safety management systems certification. In order for a facility to achieve certification, the company’s senior management must implement processes and procedures to address and manage food safety issues. One such fundamental process required by any of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) benchmarked certification schemes is the implementation of an effective internal audit process, to monitor the effectiveness of the food safety management system.
Each company must now train an internal audit team to ensure both competent auditors and effective audits. Paul Valder Consulting has launched an interactive online GFSI Internal Auditor Training course to help companies meet this requirement. At an affordable US $350 per trainee or US $1,250 for a group of five or more, this program provides approximately six hours of training. The trainee is coached through each step of the audit process, learning audit principles and techniques, as well as requirements for the internal audit program. Cynthia Weber, Director of Training at PVC states "After years of experience providing classroom training, I am excited to see this great alternative for companies to provide convenient, yet very effective training for their implementation and internal audit teams".
All auditors should be familiar with the fundamental requirements for any of the GFSI benchmarked food safety management systems, prerequisite programs and the principles of HACCP. Four modules including a GFSI overview are all part of four (4) modular topics included. If the trainee is already trained in one or more of these topics, they are able to choose only the relevant module(s) of choice. Each module comes with its own mandatory Quiz, with integrated “random question selection technology”, which the trainee much successfully pass before receiving a printed Certificate of Successful Completion.
In addition to training internal auditors, this course provides important insights into the design of the food safety management system and may be used as a valuable training tool for those working to design and implement any of the GFSI management programs.
