Hartford, CT (PRWEB) May 02, 2011
McCarter & English LLP announced today that its Hartford office for the sixth consecutive year has participated in Rebuilding Together Hartford’s(RTH) “National Rebuilding Day” project. The event, which took place on April 30th, includes the renovation of 25 low-income Hartford homes completing tasks ranging from installing new windows to mounting handrails. All projects are done to make the homes of Hartford residents in needs – particularly the elderly, people living with disabilities and multi-generational families – more, safe, healthy, accessible and energy efficient for the homeowners.
“RTH is a wonderful organization that allows companies and individuals to reinvest with sweat equity back into their neighborhoods,” said Jane Warren, an environmental and redevelopment partner with McCarter in Hartford, who previously served on the board of RTH for two years. “McCarter has been committed to this project for six years because community involvement is such a large part of our firm culture. The immediate benefit is the satisfaction that comes from helping someone in need to be able to live happily and comfortably in their own home. That truly is the greatest reward.”
McCarter attorneys, staff and their families participate in the National Rebuilding Day project each year. The home that McCarter sponsored and helped to renovate is owned by a 70-year old woman who has lived in her home for 40 years. Work on the house included safety improvements, energy upgrades, fixing doors and gutters, landscaping and interior painting.
The day started with a pep rally at St. Francis Hospital at 7 AM, and ended at approximately 3:00 PM. The Mayor of Hartford, Pedro E. Segarra, as well as members of Hartford’s City Council, were also in attendance.
In addition to sponsoring their own home, McCarter hosts various meetings and receptions in the Hartford office for RTH throughout the year.
Rebuilding Together Hartford, Inc. was established in 1994. It is the national organization’s largest Connecticut affiliate and is one of more than 200 affiliates across the country. To volunteer or learn more about the organization, please visit http://www.rthartford.org.
