RE/MAX Northern Illinois has donated more than $2.1 million to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) since 1992. Now, Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago – the main recipient of those dollars – will name a special area of its new hospital building in honor of the RE/MAX Northern Illinois real estate network.
Children’s Memorial will open its new downtown facility, the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, in June of 2012. The RE/MAX Family Kitchen will be an important feature on its 20th floor.
“RE/MAX Northern Illinois has been a great partner of ours,” said Tom Sullivan, president of the Children’s Memorial Foundation. “They’ve stayed with us through thick and thin and have supported us despite the recent downturn in the economy and real estate market. They’ve been a faithful and generous partner to this institution. It has been an extraordinary relationship.”
RE/MAX is the exclusive real estate sponsor of CMNH, an organization that provides funds for more than 170 children’s hospitals in the United States and Canada. Nearly all funds raised by the RE/MAX Northern Illinois network for CMNH go to Children’s Memorial Hospital.
These dollars are especially important. Children’s Memorial Hospital provides the most sophisticated care for seriously ill children regardless of whether their families have the financial resources to afford such treatment.
The Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, a 23-story state-of-art facility, located at 225 E. Chicago Ave. on the campus of Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, will offer the latest innovations in medical technology, research and family friendly design.
The RE/MAX Family Kitchen is an example of the family-friendly feel that this new hospital will boast. The kitchen will include an eating area and family gathering space. It’s an important space for parents and siblings who are spending long hours away from home. The RE/MAX Family Kitchen will provide them with a place to unwind while remaining close to the hospital’s patients.
Sullivan said that such spaces are important. They ease the incredible stress that family members are often under.
“It’s important for families to have the opportunity to be with other families that are going through similar circumstances,” Sullivan said. “They can share their experiences and support each other. That’s the value of these spaces. They can help people deal with the challenges that they face when caring for their children who are with us.”
Laura Ortoleva, communications professional and hospital liaison for RE/MAX Northern Illinois, adds: “We are deeply touched and honored that Children’s Memorial Hospital has named this family kitchen after RE/MAX. By doing, so they have memorialized our support of this world-class children's hospital to all those who will be entering through its doors in the future. We couldn’t be prouder or more moved.”
