For years, Dan Donovan has been enchanting his grandchildren with bedtime stories about the adventures of a special skunk with a magical tail. After a bit of encouragement, he began to compile them, and the arrival of Easter season coincides with the publication of Holiday Tails! (published by AuthorHouse), the newest addition to his series that focuses on Easter, Halloween and Thanksgiving.
In a cozy den nestled along the edge of a dense forest there lives a unique skunk named PūeDy. He’s different from other, ordinary skunks in several ways: he has the ability to talk to children (and even some grown-ups); his tail, with its distinctive white stripe down the middle, has special powers; and, unlike his malodorous peers, PūeDy’s scent is remarkably mild and inoffensive.
A nearby village gives PūeDy the opportunity to interact with humans, and when he’s not busy in the forest exploring and hunting for food he especially enjoys playing and talking with the local children. Holiday Tails! tells the stories of PūeDy’s adventures with his two and four-legged companions on three special days: Easter, Halloween and Thanksgiving.
Accompanied by his three best animal friends, Bobbin Robin, Sniffer Rabbit and Reddy Fox, PūeDy will find wind up in several situations where his magical tail saves the day. He can use it as a tool, even to help him fly, and if it’s absolutely necessary PūeDy can point his tail and squirt out a smelly skunk juice to escape danger.
With action illustrations by Julie Picott that favor bright colors and whimsical landscapes, PūeDy and his friends are ideally suited for a transition to the big screen. Reminiscent of popular modern movies like “Ice Age”, “A Bug’s Tale” and “Madagascar”, Holiday Tails! will entertain its target audience of pre-school and first readers aged 4 through 11 with memorable characters whose interactions promote loyalty, friendship and kindness.
