Recognition Professionals International Honors Ellen Hertel of DIRECTV, Inc. and Jeanie Paratore of University Hospitals

On Tuesday, May 3, Recognition Professionals International (RPI) announced the 2011 Recognition Champion Award winners at the 14th annual RPI Conference in San Antonio, Texas. Each year, RPI recognizes those who are passionate about recognition in the workplace and work to design, implement, communicate and track successful initiatives within their organizations.

Recognition Champions also need a partner to help them create winning recognition initiatives. Inspirus is a workforce recognition provider and trusted partner for more than 300 companies and hundreds of HR professionals, including two of this year’s RPI Recognition Champion Award winners – Jeanie Paratore, coordinator of employee recognition for University Hospitals, and Ellen Hertel, manager of communications and events for DIRECTV, Inc. Even during uncertain economic times, they realize that workforce recognition is an investment that drives employee engagement, retention and performance.

Jeanie Paratore recognizes the importance of having recognition programs that align with the goals and culture of University Hospitals. To this point, Inspirus has helped Jeanie launch the UH Appreciates recognition program and integrate it with the company’s broader wellness framework that rewards healthy behaviors while encouraging and focusing on implementing lifestyle changes for the betterment of all employees. In addition, Jeanie has taken great strides to educate managers on the importance of workforce recognition and the significance of their role in its ongoing success.

Ellen Hertel has a contagious belief in personal, high-touch recognition moments and has used her passion to rally the leadership team at DIRECTV, Inc., making recognition a priority throughout the organization. Her ability to manage recognition among cross-functional teams such as Homes Services, Customer Care, Corporate, Technology, Commercial Sales and many others showcases her belief in the power of recognition and her ability to successfully implement recognition programs. Ellen effectively uses her experience to identify ways that the company can invest in both no- or low-cost recognition as well as formal programs to increase the breadth and depth of workforce recognition to all employees.

Inspirus congratulates both of these RPI Recognition Champions for their outstanding achievements.
