A movie aficionado’s dream and the perfect opportunity to catch up on all those films you really should have experienced up there on the big screen where they belong
(PRWEB) May 04, 2011
Award-winning comedian, broadcaster and writer Robin Ince will introduce a rare double bill screening of classic British horror movies as part of the Time Out Film Club.
Held at Cineworld Haymarket in London on May 10th, Ince will introduce two horror movie masterpieces, one familiar and one lesser known. In the late ‘50s, 'Dracula', created by cult British film production company ‘Hammer’, was the film that dragged British horror out of the drawing room and into a bold, bloody new world of shocking sex and violence. ‘70s psychedelic splatter classic 'Theatre of Blood' featured Vincent Price starring alongside Diana Rigg, as the ham actor who decides to wreak bloody revenge on all those critics who laughed at his Shakespearian ambition. Both films represent significant milestones for horror in British cinema history.
Recently chosen by 150 film industry experts including Sam Mendes (Director of American Beauty) and Wes Anderson (Director of Fantastic Mr Fox), Time Out’s 100 Best British Films featured ‘Dracula’ as one of the country’s top horror films. This is a rare opportunity to see the film on the big screen.
Time Out Film Club’s rare cinema experiences are open to the public with tickets costing just £8, less than the price of a regular West End cinema ticket. Each screening features special introductions from leading members of the British cinema world, such as Jonathan Pryce, Sally Hawkins and David Morrissey.
Tim Arthur, Director of Time Out Live, comments: “The season offers people of London the chance to see some of the greatest British films ever made, presented by some of the film world’s most influential voices. A movie aficionado’s dream and the perfect opportunity to catch up on all those films you really should have experienced up there on the big screen where they belong.”
