“Gunnar's presence will strengthen our ties to both our customers and partners, as well as ensuring that Northern’s global management continues to function as a tightly knit team."
Stockholm, Sweden (PRWEB) May 04, 2011
NORTHERN, global providers of Storage Resource Management solutions, today announces that it has moved its U.S. headquarters to Framingham, Massachusetts. The move brings Northern's sales and support teams in close proximity with its strategic technology and marketing partners; the Framingham office, located just outside Boston, also provides a central hub from which the company can efficiently serve its clients across the region and North America. Former acting CEO and VP of Marketing Gunnar Bohlin will be heading up the new U.S. location to manage the transition of Northern's sales and support organization, while looking to expand the company's U.S. footprint.
Last May, Northern opened a sales office in Boston to be closer to key customers and strategic partners headquartered in the region; its success in improving these relationships gave the company impetus to centralize operations in the Northeast.
"Moving our U.S. base of operations to the Northeast allows us to develop our foundational SRM solution, Northern Storage Suite, in close collaboration with our strategic technology and marketing partners, as well as some of our biggest customers across the region," says Jonas Areskoug, Northern’s CEO. "The fast-changing storage landscape requires persistent dialogue and interaction with customers and partners; our new 'hub' will give us a more precise sense of what the market demands and how to best serve the real world needs of organizations across North America, especially now that we increased our focus on large organizations. "
Gunnar Bohlin has been named VP of U.S. Operations and will spearhead the company's North American marketing and sales operations from the new Framingham office.
"Gunnar has been with Northern for more than 10 years now and it will be key to leverage his knowledge of the market and Northern as a company to make this transition as smooth as possible," says Areskoug. “Gunnar's presence will strengthen our ties to both our customers and partners, as well as ensuring that Northern’s global management continues to function as a tightly knit team."
"After stepping in as Acting CEO for 18 months, this is a natural next challenge for me. I bring a good understanding of Northern's global presence as well as knowledge of the American market,” says Gunnar Bohlin, newly appointed VP U.S. Operations. "We have a small but skilled team here in the Northeast and I'm looking forward to, together with my new co-workers, growing while implementing new and improved strategies for sales and marketing."
Once the relocation is complete, Northern’s office in Tampa, FL will be closed.
Northern recently received the coveted “Challenger” designation in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for the SRM market, outstripping other SRM vendors in its completeness of vision, its ability to execute, and its ability to identify and resolve customer pain points. Northern’s flagship product, Northern Storage Suite, is a software solution that enables organizations to constrain data growth, align the value of data with the cost of storage, and extend the life of storage infrastructure, making efficient storage usage a part of business culture. This is achieved through five areas of functionality: award-winning quotas, comprehensive reporting & trending, internal billing, automation & migration, and an end-user portal that encourages self-management. Northern Storage Suite provides multi-platform support, seamlessly integrating with NAS devices and SANs; there are also specific versions of the suite for EMC Celerra and NetApp NAS.
