Ohio's Infinity Home Health Services launches program to implement Procura home health software on the iPad for enhanced point of care documentation and integrated care.

According to Infinity Co-Owner, Matt Volansky, they have only just begun to tap the potential for this powerful home health point of care duo.

Using an Internet connection, Volansky’s initial point of care implementation relied on PC-based tablets that used a Windows platform. While this met their point of care needs, with the release of the iPad, Volansky wished to take advantage of the faster boot times, longer available battery life, and touch screen capabilities that it offered. He anticipated that the iPad would allow his mobile employees of RNs, LPNs and Rehab staff to realize efficiencies and usability benefits as they entered their clinical documentation at the point of care. “We found that though there was a slight learning curve for those employees who were unfamiliar with the Apple user experience, we had virtually eliminated the obstacles that had prevented uptake success,” states Volansky, “Fortunately, having implemented the Procura enterprise software in 2005, we knew it well and were confident that it would translate beautifully on a mobile platform.”

Using customized forms created with Procura’s custom assessment design engine to document disease specific notes and Procura’s Clinical Day View, a personal home page for clinicians, Infinity’s mobile workforce is able to remotely access patient information and document patient updates at the point of care. This change has facilitated increased accuracy and timeliness while ensuring integrated care delivery.

“Infinity is an example of an organization that is constantly looking for ways to apply emerging technology to their business problems,” said Scott Overhill, Procura’s VP of Product Management, “Procura is supported by an iPad internet client ‘out of the box’ and in fact because they were already experienced with similar solutions, the Infinity technical team did not require any Procura technical support to complete their deployment on the iPad.”

Never an organization to rest on its laurels, Infinity has plans to expand its point of care use of the iPad by utilizing photo and video functions for wound care and physiotherapy gait documentation as well as accessing Voice Over IP (VoIP) and video training for communication purposes. Commenting on the innovative manner in which he has engaged his Procura home health care software, Volansky concludes, “We exist to be able to support patient practitioner interaction; everything we do should support that interaction and Procura helps us do that.”
