Retirement looms ahead but are you making the best decisions for your financial needs now and later? Learn how smart strategies work to your advantage now for sound management decisions later.

Planning retirement strategies now for federal and civil workers will be the focus of workshops sponsored by ProFeds and hosted by local financial planner, James Kirk of Kirk Financial Group.

Developed as a 4-hour intensive seminar to breakdown complex retirement concepts, Chris Lennan of ProFeds, will hold two identical sessions Friday, May 13, and Saturday, May 14 from 9am-1pm at Hampton Inn Barstow on Lenwood Road. Attendees can make follow-up private counseling with local advisors to review their specific choices.

Managing the strategies of basic retirement planning for CSRS, TSP and FERS, FEGLI and others can be overwhelming, confusing, or not often presented clearly. The workshop is designed to break through the concepts, allow retirees to become proactive in their decision making, and know how they can affect their plans for retirement. Knowing your benefits and applying positive decisions to be better informed as you approach retirement, is the key to managing retirement packages.

With the wide array of local federal employees, the session materials are tailored to CSRS and FERS participants. The workshops will cover such topics as: Health and Survivor Benefits, Federal Pension Taxes, Long Term Care, risk tolerance for savings, Social Security, and more.

The employees who typically benefit most from these workshops are within 5-10 years of retirement. Those closer to retirement often have specific questions. Decisions made now will educate employees to know the financial impact of their decisions based on sound information.

Both sessions are free for federal employees and their spouses. Registration is required. Join the Federal Retirement Impact Workshop by registering online at, or by fax toll-free (866)779-9921or by phone (760)255-2776.
