Intelligent Decisions, Inc., Proudly Sponsors Tournament to Raise Funds for Nonprofit ThanksUSA’s Mission of Providing Scholarships to Military Families

Wounded warrior military veterans from Walter Reed Army Medical Center played golf in the ThanksUSA CharityGolf Tournament today proudly sponsored by Intelligent Decisions, Inc. The tournament raised funds in support of ThanksUSA’s mission – mobilizing Americans of all ages to “thank” the active-duty men and women of the U.S. armed forces by providing scholarships for their families. The event took place at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, VA.

“Since starting the ThanksUSA scholarship program five years ago, we have awarded more than $6 million in scholarships to military spouses and children,” said Michele Stork, ThanksUSA executive director. “A major factor in the organization’s success is the continued support of corporate donors like Intelligent Decisions.”

ThanksUSA began in 2005 as an idea of two Virginia schoolgirls. Since 2006, the charity has awarded need-based, post-secondary scholarships to 2,200 spouses and children of military members serving on active-duty status. Scholarships have been awarded in all 50 states and in the District of Columbia to families representing all branches of the Armed Forces, including the Guard and Reserves, and the families of the wounded and fallen.

“Intelligent Decisions is honored to be sponsoring the ThanksUSA Golf Tournament, recognizing the sacrifices of our active-duty service members, and those of their families, through educational scholarships for their spouses and children,” said Harry Martin, ID president and CEO and member of the ThanksUSA board of directors. “Military families give up so much with loved ones often stationed far from home. These scholarships are one small way we can help repay them, as well as the men and women who so bravely serve our nation.”

ThanksUSA provides scholarships to military spouses and dependents to pursue a full-time post-secondary education, including vocational and technical training. ThanksUSA is accepting applications through May 15, 2011. To apply for a scholarship or support ThanksUSA’s scholarship fund, please visit http://www.ThanksUSA.org.

This is the fourth year in a row that Intelligent Decisions, a premier global systems integrator, has sponsored the ThanksUSA Golf Tournament.
