Its so great y’all are doing this. Its exactly what my kids need right now.

Soccer Shots is giving Tuscaloosa area Owner/Director Andy Grant the opportunity to help his community heal through soccer. At the first clinic held Sunday, May 1st at the Calvary Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa, Grant and 9 of his instructors worked the special soccer camps for hundreds local children affected by the devastating tornadoes the area suffered on April 27th. They are continuing to volunteer their time throughout the region, setting up more camps and clinics as a way to provide fun and joy to children who have gone through a traumatic experience.

Grant, “It is a very trying time for the people of Tuscaloosa, they have been so thankful that Soccer Shots has been able to persevere during this situation and bring soccer to the children who have had to face a lot of morbid realities about the world. Quite a few directors and teachers have cried when they saw us show up for our regular weekly sessions. Many more have given us hugs and kisses.”

Three of the centers that Soccer Shots serves suffered extensive damage, and there are a number of children that Soccer Shots works with have injuries from bruises, to broken arms. Despite the destruction, Grant and his instructors are using soccer to lift children’s spirits and more. One parent comments, "Its so great y’all are doing this. Its exactly what my kids need right now."

Soccer Shots was founded in 2005 by three soccer teammates and is now a successful and affordable franchise system. The “soccer for kids” business model created by Jason Webb, Jeremy Sorzano and Justin Bredeman has evolved and expanded into more than 80 territories and will educate approximately 60,000 children in 2011. The franchise system focuses on children’s developmental needs, health and wellness, using soccer as a fitness program for kids as they learn new psychomotor skills, teamwork and cooperation.
