BFM Digital, a leading independent music company specializing in digital distribution, marketing, and promotions, has partnered with GI Film Festival (GIFF), a non-profit educational organization dedicated to sharing the military experience in and out of the arena of war, to digitally distribute, market and promote their vast catalogue of independent films.

BFM Digital has long been a leader in digital distribution, marketing, and promotions for independent artists and labels. The recent addition of digital film distribution and marketing services has created a unique opportunity for both BFM and GIFF to work together to offer such distribution and marketing services to their film partners. With GIFF’s large and adept community of independent filmmakers and quality films, BFM’s services will act to generate awareness, reach, and availability of these films throughout the World.

“We are excited to be working with GI Film Festival and the many films they represent. We look forward to our efforts bringing greater awareness to these films and the filmmakers themselves,” says Steven Weber, President of BFM Digital.

The BFM/ GIFF partnership will kick off at GIFF’s annual weeklong festival (Reel Stories! Real Heroes!), which will take place May 9-15, 2011 at the United States Navy Memorial in Washington DC. Overall, the 2011 festival will feature 31 film premieres honoring our country’s servicemen and women. Film topics featured during the 2011 festival include the 60th Anniversary of the Korean War, the War in Afghanistan, World War II, Vietnam, and issues facing military families and returning GIs. The festival will also host an international block of films from Denmark, Holland, Australia and Canada at the Canadian Embassy and will debut a revolutionary interactive film technology that allows the audience to participate in how the movie plot unfolds. The festival will conclude with the ”Best of the GI Film Festival” Awards Ceremony, 2011, during which the 2011 “Best of Film” winners will be announced. The 2011 “Best Documentary Feature” and “Best Narrative Feature” award winners will receive a digital distribution deal and a marketing/promotions package from BFM Digital, and will be the first films to launch the partnership.

“This ground-breaking deal with BFM Digital marks yet another leap forward for the GI Film Festival and our filmmakers as we attempt to gain unprecedented exposure for films that honor our American servicemen and women,” said GI Film Festival Co-Founder and President Brandon Millett.

In a short time, the GI Film Festival has become the nation’s premiere venue for screening military films. Owing to this success, on Veteran’s Day Weekend 2010, the GI Film Festival launched a new television series with Discovery’s Military Channel, which broadcast select GI Film Festival films into 57 million homes nationwide. Moreover, in 2010, the GI Film Festival (GIFF) was the recipient of the ‘American Legion’s National Commander’s Public Relations Award,’ previously presented to Tom Brokaw, Tim Russert, Lou Dobbs and Jack Valenti, to name a few previous recipients.

GIFF’s film content is set to be available though BFM at major digital film retailers such as iTunes, Amazon, and Netflix.
