The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) has partnered with San Francisco-based technology service provider Guide by Cell to provide a new NRPA discount program, which will support members in engaging visitors to their public parks and recreation areas.
Under the new partnership, NRPA members will receive a 30 percent discount on Guide by Cell services, including cell phone audio tours, text messaging systems, mobile websites and Smartphone applications for visitor and tourism information. The company will also act as a mobile technology advisor to NRPA’s member organizations and report on market trends pertinent to the advancement of parks and recreation in local communities.
Approximately 91 percent of Americans own a cell phone, and there are four billion mobile phones in use around the world. NRPA, which serves as the national representative for public park and recreation agencies throughout the U.S., formed the new partnership with Guide by Cell in response to the growing use of mobile devices, as well as members’ growing need for technology support to reach out to their local citizens and potential visitors.
