ThreatMetrix™, the fastest growing provider of fraud prevention solutions that do not require personally identifiable information (PII), announced today that it has been included in the list of “Cool Vendors” in the “Cool Vendors in Context-Aware Computing, 2011”(1) report by Gartner, Inc.

“Device identification has become a key component for effective fraud detection, because it provides contextual information that helps enterprises weed out the bad from the good transaction requests,” said Avivah Litan, vice president and distinguished analyst, Gartner, in the report.

According to the report, “Context-aware computing will make systems more usable and will provide differentiation in areas such as personalized advertising. Although gigantic vendors such as Apple, Google, Microsoft and Nokia have invested billions of dollars in this area, there is much room for small vendors to add additional value.” The report also adds that “organizations with e-commerce and mobile commerce strategies need to explore emerging context-aware technologies and vendors to make their offerings more relevant and easy to use.”

“We believe ThreatMetrix’s inclusion in Gartner’s Cool Vendor report demonstrates our reputation as a leading solution in the fraud prevention industry,” said Reed Taussig, president and CEO, ThreatMetrix. “We will continue to leverage our comprehensive ThreatMetrix Cloud-Based Fraud Prevention Platform to serve our rapidly growing worldwide customer base, and look forward to continued innovation in the industry.”
