One-of-a-kind collection of designer dog duds to be auctioned off at "Pup-tail" party.

It is fun, furry and fabulous! A cocktail party for humans only celebrating all we love about fashion, design, and dogs.

Four Legged Fashion: Canine meets Couture will unveil and auction off their collection of one-of-a-kind designer dog fashions Friday May 20, 2011 at The Grand Pavillion in the Dallas Trade Mart. Fashion designers Michael Simon, Theia, Dolce Cabo, and Project Runway contestant Shirin Askiri are among those creating four-legged fashions for the silent auction and doggie runway show at Fashion Group International (FGI) of Dallas’ third annual Four Legged Fashion “Puptail” Party.

This human only event will be emcee’d by one of Dallas’ most popular radio personalities, Kelli Rasberry of Kidd Kraddick in the Morning KISS FM.

A portion of the proceeds go to FGI Dallas’ Four Legged Fashion Fund (FLF) benefiting small animal rescue groups. The 2011 grant recipients, announced at the April 19 press party, are: Education and Animal Rescue Society (EARS), Community Animal Rescue Effort (CARE), Angie’s Friends, and Before The Bridge.

To date the FLF Fund has given out over $12,000 to small animal rescue groups in the North Texas area. “We put dogs in dresses and in turn help dogs in need - it’s fun and worthwhile!” says FGI member and event chair Terri Tomlinson. The show’s four-legged models consist of rescue dogs from this year’s beneficiaries, and come in a wide range of shapes and sizes, including one model with three legs.

Four Legged Fashion Canine Meets Couture was founded by Tomlinson in 2008 and inspired by her mixed-breed rescue puppy “Frank The Tank”.

Frank, who has become the dapper “spokes-dog” for the annual fund raiser, will be strutting the runway as well as making personal appearances beforehand. Fort Worth’s Tugg the Bull Terrier will also appear in the show as this years Celebrity Dog Model.

This year’s designers include: Abi Ferrin, April Miller, Haute Puppy for Bitch New York, Dolce Cabo, Duxiana, Heirloom Lamps, Finley, Frontgate, Green’s Jewelers, Kate Mesta, Lindsey Weathered, Lucy’s Luxuries, Maristella Citelli, Mary Gold Design, Michael Simon, Nicolas, Rolando Santana, Southern Pup, Prashe, Shemara Couture, Stevie Mac New York, The Pillow Bar, Shirin Askiri, Theia, and Watters and Watters.

Not only do numerous designers lend their “paws,” many small donors (FLF “Pack” members) offer their support. This year’s auction will also feature donations from David Yurman, Sewell, The Mansion, Michele Watches, and Thundershirt. Sponsors include The Dallas Market Center (http://dallasmarketcenter.com), RSC Productions (http://rscshows.com), Tito’s Vodka, and Wade College.

This years event is being produced with a 1960’s Hollywood Glam theme with guests sipping on Champooch Cocktails, nibbling high-end kibble, and leaving with some of the best doggie “swag” bags in town. And if they are the high bidder, an original doggie design. Dress is “whatever makes you happy”.

Four Legged Fashion: Canine Meets Couture opens its doors at 6:30 p.m. at the Dallas Trade Mart Grand Pavilion located at 2100 N. Stemmons Freeway, Dallas.
