Gibsonia, PA (PRWEB) May 12, 2011
West Penn Energy Services announced today that it has acquired additional equipment with the intent of expanding its rig moving business. This equipment will enable the company to efficiently handle some of the largest rig moves in the Marcellus Shale play.
“Our recent investment will help us better service the companies who are drilling in the Marcellus Shale region," says West Penn President Michael J. Zentz, an industry veteran of more than 25 years. He went on to add that the company offers complete rig moving services, including dismantling, staging, logistics, permitting, and reconstruction once the rig arrives at its destination.
West Penn Energy Services is uniquely qualified to perform rig moves in the Marcellus Shale region. The company has been in the Appalachian Basin for more than 20 years; its workers are not only familiar with the terrain, but also familiar with the potentially time-consuming, over-the-road permit process.
Ray Fisher, truck foreman for West Penn Energy Services admits the hilly terrain and vast expanse of the Marcellus Shale can pose problems for rig moving operations. “Many times rigs are moved between states—Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and West Virginia, for example—and if that process isn’t properly coordinated, the producer could lose days of drilling time,” Fisher says. “We know this region and work hard to be sure that the process is seamless.”
Ray, his crew and the entire West Penn Energy Services team are also committed to safety. The company has safety and environmental professionals on staff, and safety policies and procedures that are compliant with ISNetworld Review and Verification Services.
