Members of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors – NE and the Nebraska Association of Health Underwriters will convene for the third Annual NAIFA/NAHU Joint Conference May 11-13, 2011, at the Embassy Suites in LaVista.

Members of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors – NE and the Nebraska Association of Health Underwriters will convene for the third Annual NAIFA/NAHU Joint Conference May 11-13, 2011, at the Embassy Suites in LaVista.

Insurance agents and advisors will discuss emerging trends and issues facing the industry, including the impact major healthcare and financial reform regulation will have on their businesses and their ability to help consumers navigate the changing marketplace.

Thursday, May 12, 1:30 p.m.: “Paychecks and Playchecks": Tom Hegna, CLU, ChFC, CASL, will use mathematical, scientific, and economic facts to point out keys for helping consumers retire worry-free.

Friday, May 13, 8:30 a.m.: “Economic Realities & Forecasts That Will Impact Your Clients and Practice.” Creighton University economic expert Dr. Ernie Goss will deliver practical economic insight to help agents develop the best solutions for clients. Questions he will address are: What are the short-term and long-term prospects in this slow-to-recover economy? What segments of the economy - and industries - will flourish? What's the outlook for interest rates and inflation?

Friday, May 13, 9:15 a.m.: “Plain Talk and Plain Truth About Today's Financial Services Industry." Two top officers of the 50,000-member National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisers, President Terry Headley, LUTCF, LIC and CEO Susan Waters, CAE, will offer a frank look at the realities facing the financial services industry today.

Friday, May 13, 10 a.m.: "The Future of Health Care Reform: Provider, Insurer, & User Perspectives." NAHU’s Jesse Patton will moderate a panel of experts for an up-to-date status report on federal and state healthcare reform efforts that are impacting agents and consumers.

The conference also will feature nearly 70 exhibitors that serve all facets of the industry, as well as several educational workshops tailored to the different interests and needs of NAIFA and NAHU members.

NAIFA-Nebraska was founded in 1930, and has 1,100 members. It is one of more than 700 state and local associations that comprise the NAIFA federation and represents the interests of approximately 200,000 agents and their associates nationwide. Members focus their practices on one or more of the following: life insurance and annuities, health insurance and employee benefits, multiline, and financial advising and investments. NAIFA’s mission is to advocate for a positive legislative and regulatory environment, enhance business and professional skills, and promote the ethical conduct of its members.
