Ron Hubbard Writers and Illustrators of the Future Contests—will be on hand this Sunday, May 15, at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel to honor this year’s winners who have traveled from throughout North America and as far away as South Africa and Australia. The event’s keynote will be presented by Dr. Pete Worden, Director of the NASA Ames Research Center and an Advisor to the Space and Physical Sciences Track of Singularity University. The relationship between science fiction and science fact and the role science fiction plays in providing future direction will be part of what Dr. Worden will be discussing.
The ceremony will be streamed live on the internet at http://www.writersofthefuture.com on Sunday, May 15, with pre-event at 6:00 PM (Pacific Time) and the show starting promptly at 6:30 PM.
Every quarter, three writers and three illustrators are selected by a panel of leading authors and artists of science fiction and fantasy. With no entry fee and judging done on an anonymous basis, the criterion is strictly merit. Beside first time publication, benefits include over $30,000 in cash prizes and royalties, a week-long workshop with top professionals of the genre as well as book signings, radio and TV interviews organized by the contest administrators to assist the winners in launching their careers.
