In her new children’s book A Man of God (published by AuthorHouse), author and illustrator Margaret Brockway offers parents a book of illustrated verse custom-built for children.
An excerpt from the book:
"There seems to be a gap between what is hoped for and what really is. I sincerely believe that the Christian faith can help fill that gap.
"In writing these books, I’ve aimed at the children who may listen to these words, and the adults who will read to them. There is a child inside each of us, who may find healing remembering these stories."
A Man of God is adapted from the story of Elijah’s life, as told in 1 Kings 17:1 through 2 Kings 2:18 in the King James Bible. It is the story of Elijah’s quest to overcome the prophets of the pagan god Baal, filled with adventure and heroism and uplifting themes of sacrifice and perseverance.
Brockway – a teacher – also provides a helpful list of comprehension questions at the end of the book, as a way to encourage both parents and children to discuss what they’ve read and listened to. A Man of God reinforces the idea that there is no age too early to begin good reading habits.
