New book is an engaging memoir of a Canadian-Indian who made his way through life, against all odds.

Xlibris, the print-on-demand self-publishing services provider, announced today the release of “Almost A Born Loser!” Authored by Annis Gregory Aleck, this book follows the engaging memoir of the author as he faces life as a Canadian-Indian and as a man whose wisdom is beyond his years.

Author Annis Gregory Aleck states that Canada also tried to exterminate the Indians just like the USA did but used subtle methods like diseases, starvation, residential schools and oppression. Then when they tried to do something for themselves, they were held back by the government, and many Canadians wouldn’t hire them or didn’t treat them very well when they got hired. Canada kept the truth well hidden by not exposing the truth or by distorting stories so much that when they were exposing what happened, there was very little, if any, truth to what they’re saying. In this blunt and honest autobiography, Aleck tells a story that will expose some of these issues and how the Canadians had to struggle against overwhelming odds to do something with their lives but still weren’t able to work to their full potential.

Wrapped with just the right blend of humor, wit, and inspiration, “Almost A Born Loser!” provides a candid look at a life journey filled with injustice and vindication, struggle and victory. For more information on this book, interested parties may log on to

About the Author
Annis Gregory Aleck is a Canadian-Indian born in 1955, the first generation after the residential schools and a scapegoat, so his home life was difficult. He grew up in the middle of town so he didn’t feel different, and when he finished high school in 1973, he wanted to get a career right away, move away from his family then get on with his own life. Unfortunately the government was still trying to hold the Indians back from trying to do something for themselves and he was also slowed down by family dysfunction. He still managed to get a career against overwhelming odds then applied what he learned about life through the hard times to helping Indians help themselves so something great eventually came of it. This is his story.
