This rare screening of Michael Winterbottom’s ‘Wonderland’ is a movie buff’s dream. It’s not every day that you get the chance to experience one of Michael Nyman’s brilliant scores with full theatre sound.

Michael Nyman CBE, one of Hollywood’s most celebrated composers, will introduce the rare screening of his formative work, Michael Winterbottom’s ‘Wonderland,’ as part of a series of screenings for Time Out Film Flub.
Held at Cineworld Haymarket in London on May 17th, this is a rare opportunity for audiences to enjoy Nyman’s work with full theatre sound, while sitting alongside the composer of this rich and moving score, which gives Winterbottom’s ‘Wonderland’ its unique character.
‘Wonderland’ was recently chosen by 150 film industry experts, including Sam Mendes (Director of American Beauty) and Wes Anderson (Director of Fantastic Mr Fox), to be included in Time Out’s 100 Best British Films.
Tim Arthur, Director of Time Out Live, comments: “This rare screening of Michael Winterbottom’s ‘Wonderland’ is a movie buff’s dream. It’s not every day that you get the chance to experience one of Michael Nyman’s brilliant scores with full theatre sound.”
In ‘Wonderland’, director Winterbottom (’24 Hour Party People’) portrays a vision of London during one Bonfire Night weekend, through the lives of three variously troubled sisters, played by Gina McKee, Shirley Henderson and Molly Parker. The relationships and events amount to a portrait of modern city and family life, but it’s the intimate, improvised shooting style and Michael Nyman’s evocative, memorable score which defines the film and gives it the sense of immediacy and compassion that make it so enduring.
Limited tickets for this very special screening are available for just £8, less than the price of a regular West End cinema ticket. These can be bought online at http://www.timeout.com/filmclub.
Time Out’s film site (http://www.timeout.com/film) features over 30,000 film reviews, screening times for local cinemas, lively debate, interviews with film directors and all the latest festival and award news.
