KBE Building Corporation (KBE) (http://www.kbebuilding.com) recently completed construction of two new retail projects, including a Harris Teeter store in Olney, MD and an LA Fitness facility in Pasadena, MD.
The new Harris Teeter store replaces a former grocery store in the Olney Town Center, which has undergone a full renovation. KBE was responsible for the full construction management of the new store and coordinating with the concurrent work on the rest of the shopping center.
The new 51,157 sf store incorporates many sustainable design features and was be constructed to meet the US. Green Building Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Certification standards The full-service grocery store houses meat, seafood, produce, bakery, and floral departments as well as a pharmacy. The Grand Opening ceremony was held on April 26, 2011, and close to 200 people were in attendance for the ribbon cutting and subsequent Taste of Teeter, in which attendees sampled the store’s offerings.
The LA Fitness facility is the third in Maryland (Crofton and Rockville) and on of more than 360 locations throughout 22 states. It is a 40,000-square-foot sports club in the Pasadena Crossroads Chopping Center and is located at 8120 Jumpers Hole Rd. The Irvine, California-based fitness operator expects to create 50 jobs at the new location.
