The Oregonian and the Hillsboro Argus have signed a long-term agreement with Digital Technology International (DTI™) to implement DTI Circulation in DTI Cloud , the company's enterprise cloud-computing platform.
DTI's industry-leading circulation system will drive new revenue expansion for The Oregonian with third-party delivery options and enhanced marketing campaigns that retain and grow audience.
The Oregonian and the Argus have been running their circulation processes on an old system that wasn't meeting their current business needs, including the pursuit of new sources of revenue. DTI Circulation and DTI Cloud provide innovative market-proven tools to achieve the publishers' goals for business process improvement and revenue growth.
"We are replacing an antiquated system with one that is certainly light-years ahead," said Kevin Denny, vice president of Circulation, The Oregonian . "With the modern technology found in DTI Circulation, we can be proactive in our marketing, audience-building, retention, and creating new sources of revenue."
The Oregonian's management team also expects to reach efficiency goals through DTI Circulation's Web self-service features and its ability to streamline workflow processes, raising productivity levels of their staff. Efficiency gains are projected through the stability and power of DTI Cloud, which enables them to always have the latest version of their circulation software, and without the capital expenditures required in an on-premises installation.
"We need to be more efficient. We are doing more with less, and DTI Cloud makes sense," continued Denny. "DTI Cloud reduces reliance on our IT department because DTI fully supports its solutions in the cloud. We see the effectiveness with DTI Cloud as the industry's future."
"With DTI Cloud, The Oregonian and the Argus have the ability to reduce costs, and are better able to focus on their audience and content," said Mary Olson, vice president of Operations, DTI. "They can increase their market share and revenues, and respond, rather than react, to changes in the industry."
The Oregonian , based in Portland, is the largest newspaper in Oregon. It is also one of the top twenty largest-circulated daily newspapers in the country, and the US west coast's oldest, continuously-published newspaper. The Argus, first published in 1873, is a twice-weekly paper for the city of Hillsboro, Oregon.
