Pew Research confirms Drudge Report’s power and influence on the Web

Businesses and advertisers are drawn to the Drudge Report for brand building and strong results.

A new study from the Pew Research for Journalism Studies confirms that the Drudge Report continues to be a major influence in online media. The site, published by Matt Drudge, has been influencing the media for over two decades. It remains a top driver of traffic to news websites including WashingtonPost.com and FoxNews.com. The Pew study shows that “the Drudge Report’s influence cuts across both traditional organizations such as ABC News to more tabloid style outlets such as the New York Post. It drove more links than Facebook or Twitter.”

Intermarkets, Inc., a privately held advertising sales management services firm, manages the Drudge Report's online advertising. “This new Pew Research study is further proof of the power the Drudge Report has for building businesses, traffic, and revenue,” said Will Trommelen, Intermarkets chief operating officer. Media Post named the Drudge Report to its 2010 list of 100 Most Important Online Publishers.

Intermarkets’ Trommelen added, “Businesses and advertisers are drawn to the Drudge Report for brand building and strong results. The Drudge Report has a large, loyal audience of influential and educated readers who continue to make the site extremely important across the Web.”

The Drudge Report covers breaking news for the public as well as key media, political and opinion leaders. Each month, more than 3 billion ad impressions are served to more than 13 million monthly unique visitors.
