De Buhr has created a user-friendly way to move through the website systems. Every one of the HotMediaDeals.com websites begins with the word “hot” and ends with the word “deals.com.” The member merely selects the site based on the category of choice. For example, hotautodeals.com is the car site and hotboatdeals.com is for boaters. At the top right corner of each page of the site appears an “our sites” drop-down menu to jump from site-to-site of interest.

De Buhr likes to combine his passions—boating and supporting our troops. As a veteran, de Buhr created an event in 2008 that centered on the idea of enlisting boaters nationally in a plan to take veterans and their families out for a day of fun in the sun. What happened, he said, was that "we enlisted 98 boats in all of 2009. These boats gave nearly 300 soldiers and their families a day of fun-in-the-sun. It was simply a way to show them our appreciation for their sacrifice to guarantee our freedom."

The event was named Boaters of America Say Thank You (BOASTY), he said. Today BOASTY is recognized as a model for organizing "recreational thank you opportunities for veterans." It's a way to give back. "It's a concept that advocates on behalf of supporting the veterans in VA hospitals or centers who could use a little camaraderie. I want to share my passion for boating with them."

All in all, de Buhr is a hands-on kind of a guy who runs his business with the same kind of commitment, compassion and ethics that builds and exemplifies American know-how, initiative and drive. He lives and works in the same community.
