Applied Relevance today introduced AR·Semantics for MarkLogic Server, the next generation of its software suite for managing taxonomies, classifying documents, faceted search and directed navigation. AR·Semantics features a functional user interface for building and managing hierarchical data models for unstructured information. AR·Semantics for MarkLogic Server takes advantage of the big data handling capabilities of MarkLogic Server to enable near-real-time categorization of enterprise content.

“We’re very excited about this integration with MarkLogic,” said George Everitt, CEO, Applied Relevance. “MarkLogic Server is solid, scalable, and shockingly powerful. Our testing has shown that it can handle truly massive unstructured data with much less bother than similarly scaled relational databases. AR·Semantics for MarkLogic Server enables companies to organize their unstructured information the same way that the human brain organizes information.”

The human brain thinks of the world as taxonomies, or hierarchies of information. Taxonomies allow organizations to classify and categorize information in a natural way. When taxonomies are applied to unstructured information, new and intuitive ways to drill into that information are unlocked, allowing enterprises to get to what they need faster. Applied Relevance semantic software unleashes the power of taxonomies on masses of unstructured and semi-structured information.

“Leveraging unstructured information and big data is a place where MarkLogic excels,” said Bill Veiga, vice president of business development, MarkLogic. “As a database for unstructured information, using MarkLogic Server for the AR·Semantics platform was a natural fit. Implementing a platform that can enable near real-time categorization of enterprise content can offer organizations a competitive advantage and can have a significant impact on the bottom line.”
