Holiday Park Heralds Revival of Traditional Family Holiday

Owners of Chesil Vista Holiday Park in Weymouth, Dorset have identified a growing trend which heralds the return of the traditional family holiday, and which shows that three, or in some cases even four generations of families are choosing to holiday together. To cater for this they have invested significantly in new larger caravans and now offer more three bedroom caravans – that can sleep up to eight people – than ever before.

The multi-generation holiday is very much a trend that we have experienced at Chesil Vista and it is a real joy to see our guests enjoying their holiday with three- or even four-generations of their family.

New for 2011 are the Ridgeway Plus 8-berth holiday homes which are 12 ft. wide and feature three superior bedrooms as well as the ability to provide further sleeping accommodation within the lounge. Light and airy, the accommodation has its own veranda and comes complete with a flat screen TV and DVD as well as two toilets, and double glazing and central heating as standard.

As well as these brand new holiday homes, guests visiting the Chesil Vista Holiday Park can also choose from seven other designs of holiday homes, providing accommodation from six to eight berths.

Three generations of the Jacob family, from Oxford, have been visiting Chesil Vista Holiday Park together for the last three years and have booked to come again for their fourth time this June. Tracie Jacob (37) and her husband Colin (39) holiday with their daughter Jasmin (13) and Tracie’s father Anthony (59), as well as with Tracie’s brother and sister and their families. The group is a total of 13, with ages ranging from 1-59.

“We love going to Chesil Vista because it suits all age groups in our family and there is something for everyone. There is loads for the kids to do - they have the swimming pool, park and amusements, and the adults can enjoy the pool, gym, sauna and solarium, and early morning walks on Chesil Beach, which is very close to the Park," Tracie said. "We have tried lots of caravan parks in Weymouth but Chesil Vista is the cleanest, friendliest and family-orientated park without being too large and over-run.”

Graham Frampton, managing director of Waterside Holiday Group says, “The multi-generation holiday is very much a trend that we have experienced at Chesil Vista and it is a real joy to see our guests enjoying their holiday with three- or even four-generations of their family. The fact that families holiday with us together is fantastic. We offer the classic family holiday and this trend is something which we are keen to embrace through investment in larger accommodation and facilities for the whole family to enjoy.

“The great thing is that our parks (which include Waterside Holiday Park & Spa and Osmington Holiday Park) have something to offer everyone, no matter their age. Our holidays are also very popular with grandparents taking the grandchildren away as there is so much for them to do and keep the younger ones occupied.”

Another multi-generational group which has been coming to Waterside Holiday Park & Spa for the past seven years is the Morgan family. In total thirteen of them, whose ages range from 19-67, come from various locations around the UK including Essex and Devon to enjoy the Park and the town of Weymouth. Shirley Morgan said, “We just love Weymouth and Waterside is a fantastic holiday park with something for everyone.”

Families can take advantage of a number of holiday offers at Chesil Vista Holiday Park. The 'Senior Special' gives £10 off per week if there are two or mores senior citizens in the party (available on week bookings) and the 'Tiny Tots' offer gives £10 per child per week if they are under 5 years old (maximum of two children).
