“From a place on a couch for £15, to a luxury apartment for £500 a night, 9flats.com not only matches people with their budgets, but it provides them with a place that meets their expectations"
London (PRWEB UK) 12 May 2011
9flats.com, a new travel accommodation website, officially launched today in the UK. A smarter, more local, and often cheaper approach to traditional holiday accommodation, 9flats.com is shaking up the hotel industry and changing the way people travel by providing a website where travellers can find individual and exciting private places to stay in at their chosen destinations and where hosts can let their accommodations, for a price they choose themselves.
With 8,000 flats across 40 countries, the site hosts many unique properties including a sailboat on the Thames, a 17th century apartment near the Spanish Steps in Rome, and a log cabin in Habichtswald National Park, Germany. Not only are 50 new accommodations added to the site daily, but each day approximately 500 new members join 9flats.com across Europe to experience this new, smarter way of travelling for themselves.
“From a place on a couch for £15, to a luxury apartment for £500 a night, 9flats.com not only matches people with their budgets, but it provides them with a place that meets their expectations. The benefit of 9flats is that it allows you to instantly feel at home, no matter which city you choose to visit. By having a truly local experience, you feel as if you really live there,” says Stephan Uhrenbacher, Founder and CEO of 9flats.com.
is the direct contact with the hosts. As an online community, 9flats provides ample opportunities for both the traveller and accommodation owner to get to know each other in advance. Not only will the host hand over the keys, but often he is willing to act as a tour guide to local attractions off the regular tourist trail.
9flats is straightforward and easy to use. Visitors simply go to the site, choose the city they want to stay in and select from one of the available properties. At all times, nine places to stay in are presented in various categories on the homepage – hence the name 9flats.com. The stay can be daily, weekly, or even long term; it is up to the travellers to decide where and how they want to live.
9flats is a market place for private accommodation to facilitate smarter and more local travel. Through the site, members can rent private places worldwide or let their own place for some extra income. 9flats launched in February 2011 and currently lists over 8,000 private accommodations in 40 countries, ranging from a place on a couch for €15 a night to a luxury apartment for €500. 9flats was founded by Stephan Uhrenbacher, one of Germany's leading internet entrepreneurs, who was involved in both the success of travel booking site lastminute.com and Europe's most popular local review site Qype.com, which he founded. The company is based in Berlin, Hamburg and Valencia and currently employs around 80 employees and is constantly growing.
