Nominated by the City of Saint Paul, and selected as one of only 100 winners from thousands of entries nationally, GovDelivery was the only Minnesota business awarded this year.

GovDelivery, a leading provider of digital communications solutions for government, has been recognized as one of the 100 fastest growing companies in an inner city with the 2011 Inner City 100 Award. Nominated by the City of Saint Paul, and selected as one of only 100 winners from thousands of entries nationally, GovDelivery was the only Minnesota business awarded this year.

The Inner City 100 Award, given by the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (http://www.icic.org), highlights extraordinary companies thriving in America’s inner cities, providing employment opportunities, supporting enhancements to urban living, and encouraging quality in inner-city school districts.

“GovDelivery is an incredible success story having started in a Saint Paul basement in 2000 and now employing nearly 100 people in our city,” said Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman. “GovDelivery is part of the incredible high-tech momentum in downtown Saint Paul that demonstrates the appeal of our vibrant city to companies that want to tap into our great workforce.”

GovDelivery was recognized last night at an awards ceremony in Cambridge, Mass. In addition to receiving the award on behalf of the company, CEO and co-Founder Scott Burns participated in an all-day executive education session at Harvard Business School.

“GovDelivery is unique in that we have the privilege of providing service to many inner-city governments from coast to coast and we are also located in a vibrant inner city,” Burns said. “Saint Paul has been an ideal location for us because being here exposes our employees directly to the issues and opportunities faced by our clients in the inner city and helps us recruit top-notch knowledge workers who value the energy and convenience of working in a vibrant urban center.”
