Students completing an online BLS degree with either a humanities or social sciences concentration will be equipped with knowledge and skills that can help them lead richer, fuller and more productive lives.
Greensboro, N.C. (PRWEB) May 16, 2011
Today UNCG announced it has established a new social sciences concentration for its Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies (BLS) online degree completion program.
The BLS program gives highly motivated working adults a flexible alternative for completing a degree. Classes are delivered entirely online so students can study where they want, when they can, without having to travel to campus.
Since its launch in 2004, the program has drawn students from across the state and nation – and from as far away as India. Anyone with 60 or more hours of transferable credit is eligible to apply.
The new social sciences concentration will allow students to select courses from a wide range of disciplines, including anthropology, communication, economics, geography, political science, psychology and sociology. It complements an existing BLS concentration in the humanities that offers courses in literature, fine arts, philosophy/religion/ethics and historical perspectives.
"Students completing an online BLS degree with either a humanities or social sciences concentration will be equipped with knowledge and skills that can help them lead richer, fuller and more productive lives," said Robert Hansen, associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and director of the BLS program. "They learn to think critically and analytically, communicate clearly and compete effectively in today's interconnected world."
Applications for fall semester are due by July 31, while spring 2012 applications are due by November 30.
