A second phase of its project will include the implementation of optical character recognition (OCR) to eliminate manual data entry. The largest manufacturer of motion control products is implementing Dolphin PTS-AP to automate its approval process and deploying Dolphin’s web-based Advanced Approval solution, as many of the approvers are not users of SAP solutions. Dolphin’s dynamic discounting capabilities and a vendor portal for AP, a software as a service solution, will be addressed in a second project phase.
Implementing the SAP Supplier Relationship Management (SAP SRM) application motivated a large multi-national medical information corporation to expand its objectives to optimize Accounts Payable as well. Increasing volumes, the need to do more with less, and demands for transparency to the entire process led it to the Dolphin solution suite. Looking to leverage its implementations of SAP applications, the company selected the Dolphin Process Tracking System for Accounts Payable. In addition, the last few months have found several existing Dolphin customers in the process of extending the Dolphin footprint by adding new enhancements and upgrading to the latest version of Dolphin PTS-AP. One of them, a large international chemical company, expanded its capabilities by streamlining the administration of EDI invoices, added Dolphin’s web-based Payment Request processing solution, and addressed an ongoing issue of unresolved blocks on invoices by deploying Dolphin’s Block Resolution solution to further optimize its workflow capabilities. The company’s goal is to standardize the capture of electronic invoices via standard EXtensible Mark-up Language (XML) format and, in the process, also enable the Brazilian Nota Fiscal requirement compatibility. With Dolphin PTS-AP, the company can now process invoices from numerous sources and formats, including EDI, with simplified exception handling and complete visibility for the entire life cycle of the invoice. This has created a sustainable cost reduction across the board.
A Fortune 100 manufacturer of global safety, security and energy systems that had previously implemented Dolphin PTS-AP with OCR for a major division, made the solution its corporate standard last quarter, and has started rolling out Dolphin Processing Tracking System for Accounts Payable to its other business units worldwide. Selected capture capabilities include OCR and ingestion of EDI transactions, for which a human-readable image is created. The AP department can now handle the exceptions for invoices regardless of source (EDI, scanned, emailed and faxed) within one tool. Other new features selected are Blocked Invoice Resolution, web-based Payment Request processes, Advanced Approvals and Service Entry and Acceptance, which streamline entry, evaluation and acceptance of service details or timesheets, using the same Dolphin PTS-AP invoice entry process and workflow model.
Another customer, a leader in the design and production of solutions for aerospace and defense, is upgrading to Dolphin PTS-AP and taking the opportunity to add OCR to address the fast-growing number of invoices, reduce errors with line-item matching of invoices and purchase orders, allowing touchless postings, and extending the reach of advanced workflow to include automated purchase order approvals.
