Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) May 17, 2011
Savision, Inc., an emerging leader in Microsoft® platform performance troubleshooting and visualization solutions, today announced the launch of Vital Signs® for Microsoft’s Private Cloud. Vital Signs for Microsoft’s Private Cloud works in conjunction with Microsoft System Center to provide real-time performance troubleshooting and configuration analysis for Windows® Hyper-V Server.
Vital Signs displays both the current performance and historic performance bands for dozens of the most critical performance indicators for Windows Server Hyper-V. Collected performance data can be replayed – rewound or fast-forwarded – to help IT departments isolate how Private Cloud environment acted during a certain period of time. IT Pros can use the replay feature to pinpoint how performance degradations manifested overtime to help optimize how cloud workloads should be deployed.
Additionally, IT Pros using Vital Signs for Microsoft’s Private Cloud are able to identify how an IT configuration change adversely affected the performance of Hyper-V and its virtual hosts by seeing the change event marked directly on the performance chart. This level of change to performance problem correlation is unprecedented and is instrumental in helping IT Pros immediately identify the root cause of a problem. Vital Signs is helping IT departments reduce troubleshooting times and improve IT service levels.
“More IT departments than ever before are investing in Private Cloud fabrics that rely on Windows Hyper-V server and Microsoft System Center,” said Dan Merritts VP of Marketing, Savision. “By coupling the historic management information from System Center with the real-time changes collected directly from Hyper-V hosts, Vital Signs for Microsoft’s Cloud is the only solution that creates a comprehensive real-time performance and configuration dashboard for Microsoft’s Private Cloud.”
IT Pros are being asked to manage more complex and mission-critical applications than ever before in Virtualized and Private Cloud environments using Windows Hyper-V Server. Real-time performance visibility is more important in cloud-based environments as workloads dynamically move based on resource utilization orchestrated by the Hyper-V fabric. Without real-time information, IT Pros often spend hours troubleshooting a problem that could otherwise be resolved in minutes when given the correct performance and configuration information. The dashboards piece together real-time and historic performance data immediately, thereby mitigating hours of work collecting – and often missing – critical performance profiles. Only Vital Signs intelligently puts real-time performance charts on one screen for Microsoft’s Private Cloud.
Vital Signs seamlessly integrates into System Center’s infrastructure to provide a comprehensive Microsoft Private Cloud real-time performance solution. Vital Signs is also available for Windows Hyper-V Server only. The following provides a summary of Vital Sign’s unique features. Proactive Management for Dynamic Clouds
Vital Signs provides early-warming of potential problems for workloads delivered on Windows Hyper-V. Understanding how virtual hosts are using compute resources – CPU, memory, disk, network – is critical to ensuring that the physical host is optimized for mission-critical application delivery. By coupling historic and real-time data, IT Pros are able to see impending performance problems up to an hour before end-users are affected.
Real-time Performance Data
Vital Signs instantly displays dozens of real-time performance graphs that allow IT Pros to determine the health of all virtualized hosts on a Windows Hyper-V server. Drilling in further to a virtual host, IT Pros may remotely determine its CPU, network, memory, disk throughput and storage utilization in up-to-the-second interactive performance charts.
No New Infrastructure Footprint
Vital Signs for Microsoft’s Private Cloud can use an IT departments existing system management infrastructure, such as System Center Operations Manager. Vital Signs collects everything remotely from its agentless architecture. IT Pros may access Vital Signs from any web browser that support Silverlight 4.
Self-Calibrating Performance Thresholds
Vital Signs displays what is considered normal performance based on its calibration period. Vital Signs automatically calibrates thresholds based on past performance of the Hyper-V host, thereby eliminating any human guesswork. Threshold alerts visually indicate impending performance problems up to one hour before an outage.
Vital Signs for Microsoft’s Private Cloud will be generally available for purchase today. Savision is demonstrating Vital Signs at Microsoft’s Tech*Ed 2011 at booth 1249. Vital Signs for SQL Server and Windows Server were also updated.
