Apex employees participate in an amount of programs set up by their Wellness committee. These programs are what boosted them to the platinum level and include activities such as step challenges, weight loss and maintaining challenges, weekly yoga sessions, participating in local 5k’s (Race for the Cure and Trinity 5k), replacing a soda machine with a new refrigerator that contains V8 juice and filtered water, biometric screenings, seasonal flu shots, B12 shots, an office wide fruit of the week and the Fit 45. Because of this healthy switch, behavior changes at Apex include 80.5% increase in employee participation in the wellness program from 2009 to 2010 and a 47.1% increase in the purchasing of healthy foods and beverage options for employees from 2009 to 2010. Together, Apex has lost almost 1,000 pounds company wide.
