Vendors Selected for the “Cool Vendor Report” are Innovative, Impactful and Intriguing

We believe this recognition further confirms Sentilla’s position as a leading provider of energy management tools for the data center.

Sentilla® Corporation, leading provider of energy performance management software for data centers, has been included as one of five technology vendors in the Gartner, Inc. “Cool Vendors in Data Center Infrastructure Management Tools, 2011” report by Jay E. Pultz, Jeffrey Hewitt, David J. Cappuccio and Rakesh Kumar.

The “Cool Vendor” list is a regular report that Gartner issues to highlight technology that is innovative, enables users to do things they could not do before, is impactful and has been found to be intriguing by analysts over the past six months.

“We are honored to be named a ‘cool vendor’ that provides innovative solutions to power constraint challenges in the data center,” said Mike Kaul, chief executive officer, Sentilla. “We believe this recognition further confirms Sentilla’s position as a leading provider of energy management tools for the data center, but also highlights the increasing concern IT leaders have about the need to comprehensively manage their power and compute landscape to deliver more services at less cost.”

According to Gartner, “when it comes to knowing how much power is being consumed, data center managers are in the dark.” The vendors included in the “cool vendor report” recognize this situation and have responded with products and services to measure, monitor and even manage power consumption.

Gartner identifies power as representing a fundamental constraint to data center size, capacity and utilization. The firm predicts that “DCIM tools and processes will become mainstream in data centers, growing from 1% penetration in 2010 to 60% in 2014.”

Sentilla Energy Manager’s™ award-winning innovative features include patent-pending Sentilla Virtual Meters that compute the power consumption of unmetered assets and the ability to perform “what-if” analysis to predict future data center performance. Sentilla Energy Manager™ measures, tracks and analyzes the entire data center's energy profile, including both metered and unmetered assets, making recommendations to inform better planning and management of data center operations and allowing enterprises to defer capital expense, lower operating expense, mitigate risk, and maximize the power capacity and utilization of existing equipment.

As enterprises transition from IT as a cost center to IT as a service, best of breed companies are realizing the need to deliver more services to the business in a cost-effective manner. Sentilla enables intelligent outsourcing, private and public cloud rollouts, and financial assessments for current and future IT projects.
