WrightIMC Social Media Intern Luke Phillips entered Ford Motor Company’s Facebook Go. Do. Adventures campaign that asked the question: “What would you do if you had a 2011 Ford Explorer for a week?” While all WrightIMC employees strive to place themselves on the cutting edge of interactive marketing, some skate right past the obstacles and put the puck right in the goal.
Of course Phillips won the contest.
Phillips, a lifelong hockey player, told Ford that he and his brothers could head to Minnesota to take hockey back to its roots by playing pond hockey. Pond hockey is simply playing hockey just as you would on an ice rink, but on a frozen pond with no scores or referees, just pure love of the game.
Ford liked the idea, and in March, Phillips, his brothers, and two other friends starred in their dream adventure for Ford’s webisode series. During the trip they met NHL legend Curtis Joseph. Part of the webisode included the legendary goalkeeper surprising Phillips by hitting the ice to play alongside him and his friends.
“The companies, like Ford, that have embraced new areas of growth are truly moving forward,” said Phillips. “The whole Ford experience was incredible and I’m so glad I was able to be a part of it.”
