Travelers can now tap their most trusted source – friends & family – to curate more personalized trips, plus get reviews & tips from the entire Wanderfly community

Interested in a beach vacation in South America? Now, on newly upgraded Wanderfly.com (http://www.wanderfly.com), get tips from friends who have been there or live there through the site’s new Facebook Connect integration. Plus, see where friends are going via new “Wanderlists” and plan a trip together with them. New destination forums also provide reviews and advice from the entire Wanderfly community.

Just six months since launch and 1.3 million trips later, this redesign demonstrates how Wanderfly, the Webby- nominated travel recommendation site that helps people discover new travel experiences tailored to their budgets and interests, continues to lead the industry in reinventing the once-tedious travel planning experience.

Highlights of the new Wanderfly include:

  •     Facebook Connect integration allows users to give and receive recommendations, poll their friends for itinerary ideas and plan group trips
  •     “Wanderlists,” a new trip management tool, welcomes user-curated lists of favorite places and trips, including fun and easy “I’ve Been Here” & “I Want To Go Here” lists
  •     Destination forums publish reviews and advice from the entire Wanderfly community
  •     Slick web-application redesign drives five times faster performance overall
  •     New user-requested trip themes, including Adventure, Islands, Less Traveled and Landmarks

Facebook Integration Makes Travel Planning More Social Than Ever Before
With Wanderfly’s Facebook Connect integration, users can now identify which of their friends lives in a specific destination, who has been there, and who is planning to go there. They can also broadcast their travel plans to Facebook friends, solicit travel advice and tips from those with relevant experience.

For example, if a user is planning a trip to Rio de Janeiro, they can use Wanderfly to send messages to just their friends who have been there: “I’m going to Rio de Janeiro next month. What are your must visit restaurants? What’s a hip, yet affordable hotel?”

New group planning tools also allow users to easily identify friends with common travel interests and plan trips together. All trip-planning comments are syndicated on Facebook’s wall to keep the conversations flowing.

“Wanderlists” Create Dream Lists Of Users’ Past & Future Trips
Travel enthusiasts love to share their opinions on the best places to visit. Through a new trip management tool called “Wanderlists,” users can curate custom collections of their favorite places (for example, “My Top Memorial Day Weekend Vacations”). Users will automatically have two Wanderlists on their profiles – “I’ve Been Here” and “I Want To Go Here” – that save and share their past trips, including where they visited, where they stayed and which activities they enjoyed.

Destination Forums Enable Community-Wide Reviews
Within each trip recommendation page, the new Wanderfly now adds Facebook-powered forums to encourage users to share public reviews of destinations, activities, hotels, etc. across the entire Wanderfly community.
