Half the salt, twice the taste!

Zymex proudly announces its newest roasted pistachio product featuring half the usual salt, far wider international market appeal, and an already-notable success in initial taste testing (United Fresh 2011 show, New Orleans) — with 70% of customers preferring the new product’s taste.

“People ask me: why do we need another salted roasted pistachio?” observes Zymex CEO Ahmad Foroutan. “My response: think of it as a new type of roast.” Actually a smartly modified traditional family roasting technique, this unique method delivers several significant new benefits.

Helping to meet one of the food industry’s biggest current challenges—how to reduce salt without compromising taste —“this roasting method allows us to reduce the salt by as much as 50% without sacrificing the taste,” says Foroutan.

Zymex’ new roasting approach also helps resolve the taste difference between American pistachios and those grown in Mediterranean/ Middle east regions, which difference has long posed hurdles for American producers selling to those markets. “This new roasting method delivers the same Mediterranean/Middle Eastern taste using California grown pistachios,” notes Foroutan, ”suggesting that roasting methodology might be far more important than previously thought.”

Presenting its traditional roast and new Mediterranean roast side by side at the United Fresh 2011 show, 70% of tasters from all regions and cultures preferred the taste of the Mediterranean roast. Thus Zymex’ Ziba Brand Mediterranean Style Salted & Roasted Pistachios not only appears to be a formulation breakthrough and a market expander, but an upcoming hit among customers as well.
