An environmentally-friendly educational organization and an environmentally-friendly recycling container company have joined forces to empower school children to display their green initiatives and positively impact the environment around them.
Green Ribbon Schools is an organization working with 200+ schools throughout Texas to help students reach their potential through green initiatives and healthy living. They recently ran a “Show Your Greenness” Earth Month contest which challenged children from K-12 to positively impact their environment while including as many participants as possible. Busch Systems, a leading manufacturer of recycling, waste and compost containers stepped up with $3000 in prizes for the winning entrants.
Bay Elementary in Seabrook, TX and Magellan International School in Austin, TX walked away with top honors but every school that participated are winners due to the impact they made on the world around them.
Chris McBrien, Marketing Manager for Busch Systems stated, “As a green-minded company, it is very gratifying for Busch Systems to see the impact that each and every student can have on the environment and the world around them. It is obvious that Green Ribbon Schools are comprised of students, parents and teachers who truly care and realize that the actions they take have a constant and consistent effect on our world”.
Green Ribbon Schools plan to run the contest on an annual basis and encourage year round environmental efforts from their students, teachers and parents.
