Petrocon Corporation, a national business-to-business buying group and wholesaler of commodity materials will work with the Western Dredging Association (WEDA) to offer its members the benefits of joining Petrocon’s innovative commercial buying program. Petrocon is one of the largest commercial buying groups in the construction industry; made up of construction, mining, aggregate, cement, and heavy duty trucking companies in North America.

Petrocon will attend the Western Dredging Association’s 31st Annual Western Hemisphere Dredging Conference and have a booth for enrollment of WEDA members. The conference will be held on June 5 to June 8, 2011 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, TN. Joseph D. Giovinazzo, president of Petrocon will be speaking at this event to WEDA members on current oil and petroleum market conditions and the impact it has on construction companies.

“The oil industry’s volatility is impacting the hard hit construction sector,” says Joseph D. Giovinazzo, president of Petrocon. “We’re excited to work with WEDA to educate them on what is happening in the oil industry and how it is impacting them." Giovinazzo also notes."WEDA has many marine construction companies; primarily dredging operations, that could benefit from our leveraged buying programs. Most of our members dig in the dirt; WEDA members do this in the water. The products are a bit different because of environmental concerns with lubricants and waterway application, but the techniques on procurement strategies are the same.”

WEDA has approximately 4,500 members in North America, Central America, and South America. WEDA is a member of The World Organization of Dredging Associations (WODA), with approximately 45,000 members worldwide. Petrocon will focus membership efforts initially in the U.S., where their distribution network has its strength.
